Mark F Smith

I am interested in contributing to our community of Kinderton Village by serving on the Single Family Board. My wife, daughter and I instantly fell in love with the neighborhood when we moved here in May of 2021 and have enjoyed the many benefits of this charming community including friendly neighbors, sidewalks, shady trees, club house, green areas, playgrounds, multi-generational events and more. We chose an area with on HOA to feel confidant that these benefits would be preserved.

I believe I have some worthwhile assets to contribute to the group:

I attended Bowling Green State University in Ohio as a young man followed by five years of service in the United States Navy as a corpsman.

I worked in sales in Ohio and North Carolina for RCA Service Company for twenty-five years until they were sold and closed my division. I then started my own company in the burglar alarm/security industry where I gained experience in fiscal responsibility and employee management.

While living in the Lewisville-Clemmons area 1985-2005, I was an active volunteer serving on the Lewisville Planning Board, was an Elder, Trustee, choir member, and youth leader at Unity Moravian Church, was an active member of the Home Builders Association and a member of the Kiwanis Club. After I moved my company to Salisbury, I was active in the Chamber of Commerce and participated in many community events. Those organizations gave me experience in working with boards, committees, and the public and helped me develop skills with public fiscal management and decision making as part of a team.

After "retiring" and deciding to downsize to a more manageable house and yard, we moved to Kinderton Village to be closer to family and to enjoy the benefits of a close-knit community. I put retirement in quotation marks because I am now working four days/week at the front desk of our local Hampton Inn. I enjoy being engaged with the public and having the responsibilities of that position. I also feel that my duties there further the skills I would bring to the Single Family Board.

I would appreciate an opportunity to work on the board to help Kinderton Village stay the wonderful community it is and to work in the interests of all the residents, not just the single family homes.
